The 2026 AHCT Symposium in Los Angeles in Images

The Association for Hispanic Classical Theater held its 2026 Symposium at UCLA from September 17 to 19, alongside the LA Escena festival. Three days of panels, roundtables, staged readings and performances brought together scholars, translators, directors and actors working on Hispanic classical theater on both sides of the Atlantic.

The program included Barbara Fuchs’s plenary lecture, “Cutting-Edge Comedia,” sessions devoted to new research and translation, and the presentation of the association’s annual awards.

Our thanks go to UCLA and to Diversifying the Classics for hosting us, to LA Escena for its programming, and to everyone who took part.

The association is now preparing an online conference for 2027, a meeting in Tallahassee, Florida, devoted to time travel and the comedia, and a return to Los Angeles in 2028. Details will be announced on comedias.org.
